15-year-old killed in semi-moped collision
WAPELLO, Iowa —
A 15-year-old moped driver was killed when she was attempting to cross a highway in Louisa County, Iowa.
According to the Iowa State Patrol crash report, the moped driver was westbound on Oak Street when she failed to yield while trying to get across Highway 61.
She was struck by a 2003 International semi-truck at the intersection of Kennedy Drive and the highway.
The collision happened at 9:50 p.m. on Monday.
The Iowa Patrol says Sierra Bowdre, 15, of Wapello, Iowa was killed in the accident.
She was transported to Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello.
The driver of the semi was Steven Lutman, 57, of Colfax, Illinois.
He was not injured.
