Despite hot conditions a field of almost 200 participants turned out for the 29th annual NEMO Triathlon.
The event is held at Thousand Hills State Park near Kirksville and features a three quarter mile swim, 18 mile bike ride and 5 mile run.
Truman State University and AT Still University were represented by Kelly Paino and Stacy Phelps, the first ladies of the universities, respectively.
The two joined together and took part in their first triathlon.
Kelly swam while Stacy did the bike and run, overall the duo enjoyed the experience.
"It was fun to be a part of it this year, who knows I've done it once I don't know if I need to do it again but it's been a great thing to be a part of so that's what I'll take away," said Paino.
Phelps particularly enjoyed the bike portion, "The best part was the bike I wasn't too worried about the bike, the running I was a little nervous about but overall I was just happy to finish.
Joe Company from Columbia won the men's race for the 4th time while Leslie Curley of Topeka, Kansas finished first for the women.
The team portion was won by Team Beast.
