350 pottery bowls crafted for Indian Hills soup fundraiser
Ottumwa, Iowa —
Chefs at Indian Hills Community College will be whipping up more than a hundred bowls of soup Wednesday.
It's part of the college's Soup for the Arts fundraiser.
The culinary department makes the soup, and the arts program makes the bowls.
$25 buys you unlimited soup and a handmade pottery bowl.
90-percent of proceeds will fund $1,000 scholarships in both the arts and culinary programs.
"We actually have already met that goal, in terms of ticket sales, but we certainly have room for more people to attend and we would love to be able to increase that to either a third scholarship or increase the scholarship itself," said Foundation and Development Executive Director Rachelle Karstens.
The Heartland Humane Society will benefit from the other ten percent.
About 350 bowls have been crafted by alumni for this event.
These bowls have been known to go quickly, so guests are encouraged to get there early.
It starts at 5 in the dining hall, which can be accessed through the Grandview Avenue entrance.
