5k race will bring awareness to date rape

Coming up this Saturday, April 27, Truman??s local radio station, 88.7 The Edge, and the Women??s Resource Center are hosting a 5K run/walk race to raise awareness for date and acquaintance rape, a problem that is all too common on college campuses.

??This was something that helps the people next to us. People that we know. People we will know. This is the biggest problem facing all of them. We all know someone who has been effected by this. That's the reason why we want to get out there. Raise money for these resources for strategies for victim support and the biggest thing is just to get people to know, to talk about it, to relies that this is a problem and that is the first step to changing a culture,?? said Geoffrey Woehlk station manager at KTRM.

Registration is at Barnett Hall at 7 a.m. and the race starts at 8:30 in the morning. All of the money raised will stay right here in Kirksville and will go to the Women's Resource Center. If you would like more information for the race Saturday morning, please click the links below:
