A defoliator update from the Missouri Department of Conservation
The Missouri Department of Conservation releases a defoliator update.
Conservation officials are saying many defoliators have been active on hard-wood trees across the state this season.
Many trees are responding to severe defoliation by producing a second flush of leaves within the same year.
However, that extra set of leaves produces stress on the trees which are suffering from the previous year's drought.
To avoid tree stress this year, you are encouraged to water your trees whenever there are drought periods.
Insecticide use is not generally recommended during this time.
