The Friends for La Plata Preservation are living up to their name these days.
The organization held their 6th annual flea market and soup luncheon Saturday in hopes of raising money to support the betterment of the community. There were over 30 booths set up with collectibles, crafts and photography.
The flea market and luncheon is said to be a fundraiser to restore the Green Theater, as well as other local historic buildings.
â??It really all got started when we realized the town was just deteriorating and we got together and got a list of buildings that we thought were the worst in town and there were five,â?? said organization member Ann Bullock.
The organization is responsible for inputting the La Plata welcome signs and they've been awarded the McReynoldâ??s Award from the Missouri Preservation Society.
