Saturday was the second to last day of the Balloon Races and the festivities were in full force.
From 1 until 4 p.m. on Saturday, a wine tasting was held on the other side of the beer tent.
This was the first year that the South Hy-Vee in Ottumwa had been asked to participate in the Balloon Races festivities.
Those of legal drinking age could sample various wines and learn about recent trends.
â??Now that it's summertime it's going to tend to go towards your white wines -- your colder wines -- just because of the heat. Then when you get to the winter that's when reds really do start to come out. But like I said, we like to give advice and my advice for most people is drink what you like regardless of what time of the year. Drink what you like to drink,â?? said Alex Beltran, South Hy-Vee Wine Spirits Manager.
Hy-Vee also brought along some of their local wine makers whose wines are carried in their stores.
The balloon competition flight started at 6 p.m. Saturday and the band â??Defiantâ?? played until midnight.
