Adair County arrest of out-of-state subject
The Adair County Sheriff TMs Office has taken into custody a subject wanted for questioning in relation to an out-of-state homicide investigation in Iowa.
On Friday, September 24, 2010, at approximately 4:20 a.m. the Adair County E 9-1-1 Center was advised by the Davis County Sheriff TMs Office in Iowa that a subject identified as Larry Wayne Steen, a 59-year-old white male, was wanted for questioning in regards to a possible homicide in their jurisdiction.
Davis County authorities reported that Steen was believed to be en-route to Adair County where he was reported to have family members living.
At approximately 5:01 a.m. Deputy Crandall and Officer Puryear, Kirksville Police Department, located a vehicle parked in the Fort Madison Cemetery on Fort Madison Way. The vehicle, a pick-up truck bearing Iowa license plates, was identified as that being driven by Steen. A subject could be seen in the vehicle.
Upon arrival of additional units, the subject, who appeared to be asleep or passed-out, was eventually awaken through the use of patrol vehicle public address systems. The subject exited the vehicle as directed and was taken into custody without incident. At this time the subject was identified as Steen by photo identification in his possession.
Steen is currently being detained at the Adair County Detention Center on a 24-hour hold for Davis County authorities.
