The Adair County Humane Society in Kirksville will receive a $9,000 check from the City of Kirksville to aide in better fiscal health.
The news came from City Manager, Mari Macomber, in a letter.
In the letter the city acknowledges Kirksville Protect Our Pets and Field of Dreams Rescue for supporting the shelter and community.
The city also plans to help the humane society with avoiding future fund shortages.
The plan is to implement more fundraising events, create purchasing policy guidelines and adequate fee structures.
