The Adair County Jail will most likely be getting some much-needed upgrades.
The Adair County Sheriff's Office, County Commissioners, and County Clerk met with Des Moines-based company CI3 Integrators Wednesday morning about upgrading the jail's computer and security equipment.
The current system is over 10-years-old and continues to cost more and more to repair and maintain.
Jail officials say it's better to do the upgrade sooner rather than later.
â??Our jail has a very good track record of keeping our people in line and keeping everyone safe and secure and we want to maintain that. It's going to improve our security. Newer equipment meaning less downtime, less repairs that have to be made. Less time to make sure everything is up and running. So we can focus more time on the job at hand and get everything done,â?? said Corrections Director John Axsom.
If the upgrade plan is approved, it will take about three years for all upgrades at the jail to be completed.
Commissioners and the Sheriff's Office will look over the contract and costs for the upgrades and make a final decision on the matter next week.
