Adair County residents got a chance to hear what the county is doing for them.
At Friday's "State of the County" address in Kirksville eight representatives of various county departments such as Adair County Public Library, Adair County Public Health Department, Adair County Commissioners Office, Twin Pines, SB 40, Adair County Ambulance District, Adair County Water District, and Adair County Sheriff's Office reviewed what their department did in 2011.
They also outlined their goals for 2012.
Organizers say this helps demonstrate how all departments contribute to the quality of life in Adair County.
"We think it's just a good service of what we provide to the community so they can understand the various programs that is administered not only by the city but also the county and that sort of thing," said Nate Walker, Chair of Kirksville Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Committee.
Walker also said this meeting helps keep the public informed.
"This is a great opportunity for the people from the various programs and county departments to come and let us know what they are doing and let the public know that if they have a particular need they can come to them and know what the county will provide," Walker said.
The Kirksville Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Committee put on today's public meeting.
