Afternoon crash sends one to hospital

One person was hurt in a vehicle crash early Wednesday afternoon in Kirksville. The crash happened at the corner of Northtown Road and New Street. When our reporter arrived on the scene, the Kirksville Fire Department had begun using the Jaws of Life to remove a woman from the driverâ??s seat of a car.
Martha Bartter, 80, of Kirksville was driving east bound on Northtown Road. Andrew Picker, 28, of Kirksville was driving a pickup truck pulling a trailer with lawn mowing equipment coming west bound on Northtown Road.
Picker went to turn left onto New Street and pulled in front Bartter. Bartter was taken from the scene by ambulance and was transported to Northeast Regional Medical Center.
The Kirksville Police Department, Kirksville Fire Department and the Adair County Sheriff's Office all responded to the scene.
