Airbags deploy during crash on Kirksville's Jefferson Street
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
An in-town crash occurred with an impact so strong it set off one of the vehicle's airbags.
It happened shortly before 5 p.m. on Monday in the 800 block of East Jefferson Street in Kirksville.
Police told KTVO a utility van and car were both eastbound on Jefferson when the driver of the van stopped in the middle of the street and started backing up.
That's when she backed into the car behind her.
Investigators say the driver of the van initially left the scene.
However, she returned after a short period of time.
All involved were checked out for minor injuries, but refused treatment at the scene.
The driver of the van was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
At this time, the Kirksville Police Department has not released the names of those involved.
