Alleged barroom fight leads to arrest of two Ottumwa men
A reported assault earlier this month has led to the arrest of two Ottumwa men.
On Dec. 7, it was reported to the Ottumwa Police Department that an assault had occurred at the Alpine Inn in Ottumwa. During the assault, the victim, a 29-year-old Oskaloosa man, was knocked unconscious and sustained injury to his head from falling to the ground.
An investigation into the incident has resulted in the arrests of Ryan Christopher Grimes, 26, and James Jonathan Heckethorn, 28.
Grimes is charged with Assault Causing Injury, a Class D felony and Heckethorn was charged with Assault, a Simple Misdemeanor.
Ryan Grimes has pleaded not guilty and has been released on $5,000 bond.
Online court records indicate that James Heckethorn pleaded guilty and was fined $100.
