Massage therapist charged with sex abuse not licensed
CALLAO, Mo. —
A man arrested for sexual misconduct during a massage may have been operating his business illegally.
Calvin Vose, 56, of Callao, was charged with Second-Degree Sexual Abuse and Second-Degree Sexual Misconduct after a client told authorities that he had touched her in a sexual manner. Vose runs a business called “Almighty’s Touch Massage” out of his home in Callao.
In Missouri, anyone who gives massages professionally must be licensed with the Board of Therapeutic Massage. The licensing process requires 500 hours of supervised instruction followed by an exam.
But Vose does not appear in online state licensee records.
Lori Croy, a spokeswoman for the Department of Insurance that oversees professional licensing in Missouri, confirmed Vose’s status.
“He is not licensed with us at all,” Croy told KTVO over the phone.
Performing unlicensed massage work is a Class A misdemeanor.
