A local club is looking to share their hobby at an upcoming community event.
The Ottumwa Radio Control Flyers are hosting an event to honor our vets and support a good cause coming up on August 16 and 17.
The Academy of Model Aeronautics National Day of Flying event will take place at the RC Flying Field (near the Ottumwa Regional Airport) and will feature a flying show at 1:00 p.m. Saturday followed by a model plane giveaway at 5:00 p.m. Flight lessons will also be available at the event.
Admission is $5 for the general public and pilot registration is $20.
All proceeds will go to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
â??Weâ??re here just trying to have some fun, fly some airplanes, make a little money for the wounded warriors project and honor some good vets that have given quite a bit to this country,â?? said Charles Paulk with the Ottumwa RC Flyers Club.
Club members are looking to make Iowa stand out among other RC Flyers while supporting those that have served.
Veterans across the Heartland are encouraged to attend the event.
