Annual art walk celebrates creativity, culture, community

Following the Fourth of July holiday, celebrating in Southeast Iowa continued with a â??Party in the Parkâ?? themed art walk.

Around 2,000 people come out to the Fairfield Square for the town's signature Art Walk. Organizers say the theme incorporates an Americana flair since people are still in Independence Day celebration mode. The event emphasizes art demonstrations, live music, and artisan and food vendors. Nearly 25 vendors had tables set up for Party in the Park. This is the 11th year Fairfield 1st Fridays has hosted the Art Walk, which commends creativity, culture and community.

â??Everything we do is free and open to the public,â?? Executive Director Cindy Woodbury said, â??so the funds go back to supporting the event and we have bands we have vendors, we have different things happening, so all of the funding really supports the event itself.â??

The opening ceremony for the art walk honored and recognized our nation's veterans in attendance. The rock n' rock band performing called The Sidewinders--are all members of the 34th Army Band from Fairfield.
