Annual Pages for Pennies Book Sale is just around the corner

The third annual Pages for Pennies Book Sale is just around the corner.

New this year, is a brand-new surround sound system that will be up for bid in a silent auction. The Sony Home Theater System's retail value is $599.

Right now event organizers are sorting and boxing up hardcover books, paperbacks, CDs, DVDs, LPs board games, puzzles, sheet music and other items that will be on display. The price range of those items will be between $0.50 and $2. Proceeds raised will go to benefit the Friends of the Ottumwa Public Library, Bridge View Center and the Convention and Visitors Bureau.

"We've kept pace with our previous years if not more," Mark Eckman, executive director of the Ottumwa Area CVB said. "We've been sorting through and making sure that these are things that people are looking for, that they're gonna purchase, gently used items, and it's been really impressive. We've been very grateful for the donations."

Pages for Pennies kicks off on Friday, May 16 and will go through Sunday May 18. It will take place in Expo Hall B at Bridge View Center. Items that don't sell will be marked down to 50 percent off on Sunday.
