Annual pancake breakfast on Saturday to help local youth

A Heartland organization is wanting you to have a good breakfast this weekend.

The Kirksville Optimist Club is holding their annual All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast this upcoming Saturday, June 14. The breakfast is the organization's second largest fundraiser of the year.

In the past, more than 400 more people come out to the event. The good turnout has help raised more than $2,000 for the club.

This year, all of proceeds from the breakfast will go towards the club's youth of the month program.

"We have participants every month. We give out an award every month. We bring them in, feed them breakfast, give them a small token of our thanks and recognize them, those kids for doing the good things that they do," said Kirksville Optimist Club President Shayne Thomas.

The breakfast will be taking place from 7 to 10 a.m on the west side of the Kirksville Downtown Square.

Pickler's Famous will be the back up location if it rains.

Tickets will be $6 per person.
