The Jefferson County Fair wrapped up for the season after its 6th day of fun-filled family entertainment.
An estimated 8,500 people came out for the fair, which sprang into action with a parade on Tuesday and continued through the weekend.
â??Our turnout has been awesome,â?? Steve Friction, Jefferson County Fair Board President said. â??Wednesday night we had a tough truck we did really good we had fun.â??
â??I usually just come to for the rides sometimes I come to see the talent show on the opening night so thatâ??s fun too,â?? fairgoer Sara Lemlin said.
Nearly half the day was packed with entertaining events, including a horse show, cattle show and the highly anticipatdemolition derby at the grandstands. You could even burn off all that fair food on a human hamster wheel in Jungle Land.
â??It's gonna be a tunnel, a little hamster wheel and that's about it basically,â?? Kelvin James, the man working at the Jungle Land attraction said.
Even people working the booths from out of town say there's nothing like an Iowa state fair
â??I want to say I enjoy Fairfield and hope to come back one day,â?? Eddie Burney in town from New Orleans said.
Many of the kids had a favorite ride they had to go on just more time.
"The sea monster one it's the best because it has a turn and it makes me go like crazy,â?? fairgoer Emma Sheppard said.
Fair board members are already planning for next year.
â??On Thursday night we decided that were gonna try something different every Thursday night until we figure out the right catch so we don't know what it is yet but were looking,â?? Friction said.
