One Heartland community ended the holiday weekend with a big bang.
The city of La Plata gathered Labor Day Monday for the last day of the 62nd annual Soybean Festival.
This year's theme was "Boots and Buckles."
The festivities kicked off on Friday.
The Run through the Jungle took place Saturday morning. Our cameras were there Saturday for the cowboys and cowgirls costume contest. The little Mr. and Mrs. La Plata Pageant and the Queen Soya Contests also took place.
The Tractor Pull and Church in the Park took place on Sunday.
After dealing with some rain early Monday morning, the sun came out just in time for the parade at the noon hour.
There were many floats with community leaders and groups participating. The Queen Soya also made an appearance.
Of course there was lots of candy given out for the kids to collect.
There was also some live entertainment, vendors, and carnival rides to enjoy after the parade.
The festival committee says they were satisfied with the turnout and the success of the festival overall.
If you missed out on this year's festival, the 63rd annual La Plata Soybean Festival will take place on Labor Day Weekend in 2015.
