Wednesday morning students at Truman State University the Western District of Court of Appeals heard arguments in five cases.
A three judge panel heard the cases in a room full of people.
Judge Joseph Ellis, Judge Lisa White Hardwick and Judge Cynthia Martin heard the oral arguments.
The cases are appeals from previously held trials in area circuit courts.
This is the seventh session of the Western District at Truman and the 20th time the court has convened in Kirksville.
â??We like to come to Truman State because it's a good educational experience for the kids,â?? Ellis said. â??They get to see the judiciary in action; how the appellate court operates.â??
Judge Ellis was appointed to the appellate bench in 1993 and practiced law in Macon for 21 years.
