An arrest has been made, and more are pending, following an investigation into motor vehicle thefts in one northeast Missouri town.

The Macon Police Department and Macon County Sheriff's Office have been conducting a joint investigation into the recent rash of thefts in the city and county.

MPD has received numerous reports recently of items being taken from inside unlocked vehicles throughout the city.

On Monday, the Macon Police Department applied for and executed a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of East Union Street with assistance from Macon County sheriff's deputies.

During the search, officers recovered stolen property as evidence as well as several items of drug paraphernalia.

One male suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Macon County Jail where he was placed on 24-hour hold pending the filing of formal charges.

"Officers believe there are more victims than those who have reported thefts and are asking for citizens who believe items were taken to please contact their local law enforcement to aid in the investigation and return of stolen property," said Macon Police Chief Adam Dawdy.
