Assault lands Ottumwa toddler in the hospital
The Ottumwa Police Department is investigating the assault of a 2-year old Ottumwa child.
According to Interim Police Chief Tom McAndrew, on Monday, police responded to a report of an unresponsive child at 117 East Woodland St.
The child was transported to the Ottumwa Regional Health Center and subsequently flown via life-flight to the Iowa City Hospitals and Clinics for treatment of his injuries. The child has been identified as living at the East Woodland Street address.
On Tuesday, officers executed a search warrant at that address and the results of the preliminary investigation indicate the child had been assaulted.
The investigation into the incident is on going, no arrest has been made at this time.
