February is National Children's Dental Health Month and A.T. Still University wants to raise awareness about the importance of kid's oral health.
The university's School of Dentistry and Oral Health is hosting the Give Kids A Smile event Saturday, February 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kirksville Wal-Mart.
A.T.S.U dental students will be there to answer questions and talk about the importance of getting access to general dental care at a young age.
"Only 30-percent of medicaid children end up getting access to dental care so there's a lot of cavities that could be prevented that they're just not getting the treatment to treat," said student Kalleb Greene.
Students will be handing out toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss and children activity books to all kids who come by the table.
