They say you can always go home again, and one Heartland community is proving just that.
Atlanta Homecoming 2014 is this weekend. This yearâ??s theme is â??Itâ??s a Family Tradition.â?? Events include a car and tractor show, a sand volleyball tournament and a parade. Entertainment will be provided by local bands Keota and The Busted String Band. Organizers hope folks of all ages have the same great experience just like in past years.
"This is a time for folks who have any connection to Atlanta to come, and really folks from all over the area to come and enjoy the free music and have a meal,â?? said event spokesperson Aaron Baker. â??They just come to visit. We donâ??t really do that a lot in society now. Just kind of slow things down, listen to music, see old friends and just enjoy the festivities.â??
The festival has been going on for almost 40 years and Baker expects close to 1,000 people to attend. Things kick off tonight, June 27th, with a pulled pork dinner and will last through Sunday, June 29th. For a complete list of festival activities click here.
