New details have emerged in the case of a former Clark County Circuit Clerk facing felony theft charges.

A report by the Missouri Auditor's office shows that the county is missing more than $12,000. Mary D. Jones of Kahoka is suspected of taking the money.

Jones was charged in June with two counts of felony stealing.

Jones resigned from her position as circuit clerk last year when her office underwent a state audit into its finances after an anonymous complaint was made to the Missouri Supreme Court.

Next up, a hearing for Jones is set for September 8. Her attorney was out of the office Wednesday and unavailable for comment.
