Investigators are trying to solve a rash of vehicle thefts and car break-ins in Appanoose County.

The sheriff's office says in the early morning hours of Sunday, someone stole a car from Sinclair Tractor south of Centerville, Iowa.

The suspect led Centerville police on a chase that ended in a pasture in Exline, Mo., where the occupants escaped on foot.

At about 6:30 Sunday morning, a burglary and motor vehicle theft were reported in the 100 block of East Grand Street in Exline.

That car was recovered Monday south of Exline, where another vehicle was then stolen.

Around 11 Sunday morning, an Exline resident reported someone had broken into their car, but nothing was taken.

Also on Sunday, someone on a farm outside Numa, Iowa, reported an ATV theft.

Authorities say these are the most recent incidents in a string of thefts and burglaries in Centerville and throughout Appanoose County.

Investigators remind you to keep your homes, vehicles and outbuildings locked.
