Agriculture is a huge part of the Heartland and it can be a busy business this time of year.
It's harvest season which means a lot of large, slow-moving farm equipment on the roads.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is giving drivers a friendly reminder to share the road with farm equipment and be patient.
"Be patient. Don't pass unless it's safe to do so. Many cases what happens is we have traffic crashes that occur where motorists try to pass farmers in unsafe locations. They are slow moving vehicles but we still have to share the road with them," said Sgt. Brent Bernhardt of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Bernhardt also suggests that slow-moving farm equipment be escorted by a car or truck with flashing lights to warn on-coming traffic.
KTVO and our sponsors have teamed up with the Iowa Department of Transportation and the Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safetyto promote safe driving in the Heartland with the JUST DRIVE campaign.
