Big grant awarded to food bank that feeds Heartland residents
Last week we brought you a story about the food bank for central and northeast Missouri competing for a $45,000 grant. Well thanks to your votes and support, the food bank placed 32nd and made the top 40 cut off to receive a $45,000 grant from Walmart. This money will be shared between 32 counties and will be able to support 250 children in the buddy pack program. While this seems like a large donation, there are still too many children that wonâ??t be covered from the buddy pack program and the Food Bank is looking for your help.
â??For the buddy pack program, the Alliant bank in Kirksville Missouri is set up to receive donations and we are still looking for donations and $180 supports one child for one school year for the buddy packs. Although we have received this money from Walmart, we are still looking to fund buddy packs across the heartland and so we're still looking for more money,â?? said Susan Dublin Regional Coordinator for the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri.
Currently Adair County is short of their goal for money raised to cover all the buddy pack programs and the grant money will not cover it all. If you would like to help, go to Alliant Bank to drop off your donation.
