Black ice sent a northeast Missouri man on a scary ride early Thursday morning.

It happened at 5:30 a.m. on Highway 149, three miles north of Novinger, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a pickup truck driven by Kenny Cody, 32, of Novinger, was southbound when he lost control on the ice-covered roadway.

The truck ran off the road and overturned, coming to rest upside down.

Cody told KTVO first responders had to break the back glass out of the cab to free him from the pickup.

He suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Cody said he has a sprained neck, but not one scratch.

Troopers report Cody was wearing a seat belt.
