Thu, 17 Apr 2014 02:31:57 GMT — A long-time Southeast Iowa manufacturer is closing its doors after 48 years of business. The Bloomfield Foundry was built in 1965. KTVO attempted to contact one of the co-owners of the company to find out more, but our calls were not returned. We were able to get in touch with John Schroeder of the Davis County Development Corporation, who was able to fill us in on what he knew.Schroeder says he became aware Friday that the foundry had closed its doors late last week. He??s not sure how many employees were working there last week, but he knew at one point, the plant had around 90 workers. "This is a bump in the road for Bloomfield quite frankly it's a big bump in our road," Schroeder said. "The foundry had been for over 40 years and lot of people had worked there and gone through that, but we're optimistic about the future. We will just keep on plugging." Schroeder told us he hopes the facility can be home to another successful business in the future.
