Bloomfield Main Street installs new benches

New benches stick with the Victorian theme of the downtown square.

Bloomfield Main Street is the recipient of 12 new benches, which are spread across the downtown square.

The new benches come as the result of a $15,000 grant from the Davis County Community Foundation. Bloomfield's Main Street director says the benches benefit both residents and tourists. An additional $2,000 grant was obtained from the Iowa Grocery Association and the Build with Bags program.

â??The Downtown Square and our Main Street area is our primary tourism destination as well as our business district, so we have a lot of people here on a daily basis that come to visit our city and just enhancing the courthouse lawn as well as our sidewalks with these benches gives people an opportunity to sit and enjoy the square and also a place to come and just relax.,â?? Bloomfield Main Street Director Janell Pottorff said.

She says the design of benches stick with the Victorian theme of the downtown square, which will provide more seating at various events held in the community.
