Bonaparte's Spring Festival festivities continue, rain or shine

While many events were canceled due to the weather, dozens of people in Bonaparte braved the rain to attend their annual Spring Festival.

While organizers were unable to set up their highly anticipated cake walk and bouncy house due to the weather, nearly a dozen vendors still had tents set up with various items on display. People could purchase baked goods, kettle corn, jewelry, candles, Tupperware and home décor. The money is being raised for Bonaparte's 4th of July activities. Over 50 people signed up to be vendors. but many did cancel due to the forecast.

"We were expecting to have a lot more people, but the weather did cancel a lot of our activities and vendors," Dustin Troutman, Bonaparte's Independence Day Committee Chairman said. "A lot of them were scared with the forecast. We got rain pretty much two thirds of the day. Then the wind picked up. Now it's calmed down quite a bit. We've had several come through in the last hour."

Rain or shine, the Bonaparte Spring Festival festivities will go on Sunday and Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
