Boo Boo Bears will provide comfort to kids in time of need

The Kirksville Police Department was recently presented with Boo Boo Bears to give to traumatic kids.

The Kirksville Police Department has received a generous gift to help out the city's kids.

The department was recently presented with a dozen Boo Boo Bears from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The bears are stuffed animals that can be given out by police to children at traumatic scenes or events in hopes of providing the children with some comfort.

"Doesn't matter if it's a young person that has seen something traumatic at the household or a young child involved in a traffic accident, it just gives them something to have. They're cute and cuddly. Just something they can hold onto," said Chief Jim Hughes of the Kirksville Police Department.

Each bear contains a tag that reads, "JUST FOR YOU! This Boo Boo Bear has a very tender heart and will love you, All the time! So if you're feeling scared or lonesomeâ?¦Just give him a hug and you'll be fine. With love, from the Nauvoo missionaries. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."

The bears will be placed in each patrol car ready to be given out

The Kirksville Police Department would like to extend a special thanks to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the cute bears.
