A good cause going on in the City of Bridges this weekend is the annual Bowl for the Cure.
At least ten teams of four came out and participated in the first of two bowling time slots Saturday afternoon at Bridge City Bowl. Participants had a good time while helping to make a difference for the fight against breast cancer. The entry fee is $20 dollars per bowler, and many people also made additional donations as they pleased. Volunteers also made baked goods to be sold at the event as well.
"We do this to raise money for the Southeast Iowa Komen Foundation," Nancy Butler, event organizer said. "Last year we gained $3,350. Hopefully this year we'll have at least $4,000 for them. It began as a one day event, but now it's a two day event here at Bridge City Bowl."
The fun continues Sunday with the Bowl for the Cure Kids' Tournament. Sign up begins at 1p.m., and bowling begins at 1:30 p.m.
