Bridge View Center still accepting donations for book sale

Volunteers are sorting and organizing items for the Pages for Pennies book sale.

The Bridge View Center is still accepting donations for their 2nd annual Pages for Pennies Book Sale.

Organizers say they are impressed with the outpouring of items people in the community have donated. Volunteers from the Ottumwa Convention and Visitorâ??s Bureau are staying busy sorting all the books, CDs, DVDs, puzzles, magazines, board games, etc. They say donations can be dropped off in the two shopping carts located in the lobby of the Bridge View Center until May 11. Thousands of items have already been donated.

The book sale kicks off on Thursday May 16 with a preview from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. A $5 admission-fee will be collected at the preview, but event volunteers will hand out a $5 coupon you can use toward any purchase you make at the book sale. You can stop by and shop at Pages for Pennies May 17 from 12 p.m.-8 p.m., May 18 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and May 19 from 11 a.m-5 p.m. Everything will be half-price the last day of the sale.

â??For many years there hadn't been a book sale of this kind in town,â?? Bridge View Center Board Member Michael Philipsen said. â??So we just thought we'd try to bring it back last year, and see if there was any interest, and there was.â??

Prices range from 75-cents to $2, and all the proceeds will benefit the Ottumwa Public Library, The Bridge View Center, and The Ottumwa CVB.
