Bulldog Cafe open for business

Students prepare a salad to accompany the main dish on Friday

The Bulldog Café at Ottumwa High School is officially open for business!

Friday was the first day lunch was served by students in the Culinary Entrepreneurial Opportunities class.

The students are in charge of everything from cooking the food to waiting on tables and cleaning the dishes.

The fast-paced environment gives the students a taste of what to expect in the future.

â??Preparing the food and then being able to listen to the teachers and hear how good it was and stuff. And around town, everyone knows it, so it's pretty cool,â?? said Reilly Mitchell, OHS Senior.

â??This group of kids have probably been one of the best groups of kids that Iâ??ve had so far. They are really self-motivated. They have initiative. They've come up with some fantastic recipes. I'm really excited for people to try bulldog cafe this year,â?? said Debb Kent, Culinary Arts Entrepreneurial Opportunities Teacher.

Every Friday a different student is in placed in charge of coming up with the lunch menu.

The Friday lunch costs $6. To make a reservation, you can call (641)683-4444 ext. 1212
