A Sunday morning foot chase has ended with a Fairfield man in jail.
The Jefferson County Attorney's Office says police tried to stop Shawn Howard, 37, at the intersection of Washington and Main Street in Fairfield on an outstanding arrest warrant, and in connection with recent car burglaries. Howard fled on foot and was captured in the 100 block of East Broadway.
The officers found evidence tying Howard to five car burglaries and two residential burglaries when they searched his person.
The Fairfield Police Department is now in the process of contacting the theft victims and identifying the stolen property.
Howard was arrested for several felony and misdemeanor charges, including two counts of second degree burglary, five counts of third degree burglary and possession of a controlled substance.
Officers are continuing the investigation in hopes that additional property will be recovered.
