Burned body found in Davis County identified

Investigators have identified the remains found in a burned-out car near Pulaski, Iowa last month.

According to the Davis County Sheriff's Office, the body found in the car was Sharon Kay Moritz, 63, of Northwood, Iowa. Northwood is a small town near Mason City.

The 2006 white Chevy Impala that Moritz was located in was registered to her.

The investigation found that Moritz has family from the Davis County area.

The full autopsy results are still pending and will not completed for approximately four to six weeks.

The investigation is ongoing. Nothing further will be released at this time.

The investigation began on Saturday, January 27, 2018.

Around 10:30 a.m., the Davis County Law Enforcement Center received a 911 call about a burned-out car in rural Davis County. A local farmer had discovered the vehicle. Deputies arrived in the area of 27772 Vetch Avenue outside Pulaski, Iowa, and discovered a burned-out vehicle with Moritz's remains inside.
