The Ottumwa City Council will be voting Tuesday on approving the projects on the list for the Capital Improvements Program.
For the fiscal year of 2013-2014, $5.4 million is available for the capital improvement projects.
Some of the projects include radio equipment upgrades for the police department and for the outdoors warning system.
Officials said the main thing will be street projects such as the pedestrian bridge by Eisenhower Elementary School.
And the list of projects is longer this time around.
â??It's a bit more than usual but what we're able to do that because of the interest rate has been under 1%. We've been able to add more projects and still use the total dollars so you're getting more bang for your buck right now with the lower interest rates. And the large share of the projects will be paid off within three years,â?? said Joe Helfenberger, Ottumwa City Administrator.
Helfenberger said there will be noticeable improvements in Ottumwa, especially the main drags.
