Caregiver accused in skull fracture of 18-day-old baby

Larry Walker, 28, is charged with abuse of a child

KTVO has now learned more information in the child abuse case against a Kirksville man.

Larry Walker, 28, is charged with abuse of a child, involving serious physical injury. Since Walker has previous felony convictions, Adair County Prosecutor Matt Wilson is asking that he be a persistent offender, which could get him a longer sentence, if convicted.

According to court papers filed in the case, the victim in the incident is 18-days old. It is alleged that the infant suffered serious injuries, including at least one brain bleed, a midline brain shift, a skull fracture, along with bruises around the eye, ear, abdomen and knee.

According to the court records, doctors at University Hospital in Columbia said, the injuries were from a force typically seen in shaken baby cases.

Walker remains in the Adair County jail under $100,000 cash only bond. He has a court appearance scheduled for Wednesday.
