The Carl Craft Civic Center and the Hedrick American Legion put on a Veteran's Day Brunch on Sunday.
Once a month the Civic Center hosts a brunch, but Sunday was in honor of those who have served our country. An estimated 400 people filled their plates with ham, turkey, salad and a wide array of breakfast foods and desserts. Several World War II, Korean and Vietnam War vets were in attendance. Civic Center committee members have been hosting a brunch the second Sunday of every month for the past eight years, and this was second year they have put on the brunch to commemorate our veterans.
I'm a veteran myself," Hedrick's Mayor Tommy Smith said. "I served in Vietnam War, and we deserve a lot of recognition."
Proceeds raised from the monthly brunches go to the continued renovation of the Civic Center.
