A few Heartland non-profit organizations celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday early.
The Chariton Valley Association and the Adair County SB 40 held their 8th annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner at the Rehoboth Baptist Church in Kirksville during the lunch hour Wednesday.
About 200 people came out and joined other members of the community for a meal and good fellowship.
There was turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green beans, rolls and pumpkin pie to enjoy and eat.
Organizers say this was the perfect opportunity to enjoy the holiday with their second family.
"I look forward to this event every year because I get to spend it with them. I'm so thankful I have this opportunity to spend this day with them. I feel so blessed to have so many people that have stepped up to help me to serve them," said Event Coordinator Alicia Bass.
Bass said this event would not have been possible without some generous donations.
Students from Brasher High School helped serve the food.
