Couples had a chance to celebrate Valentine's Day this past weekend while helping raise money for a great cause.
The La Plata Christian Ministries Food Distribution Center held their 3rd annual Valentine Luncheon and Romantic Dinner at the Sliver Rails Event Center in La Plata Sunday.
About 75 to 100 people showed up to the good will donation for lunch as they helped themselves to pulled pork and side dishes along with desserts while at the same time raising money for the La Plata Food Pantry.
"It makes me feel very happy that people have come. There is a need for people to be fed, and this is our way to raise money to keep our building," said Stephanie Allen of The La Plata Christian Ministries Food Distribution Center.
A romantic candle light dinner was served Sunday evening. The menu included pork loin, mashed potatoes, brisket, and mushroom stuffed chicken breast.
This year was the biggest turnout for the event yet. Almost all the food served at the event was given by donations from area businesses.
