Families lined up on the historic square in downtown Centerville Saturday afternoon to take a picture with Santa.

“It’s a great opportunity for the kids to come and visit Santa, get some free candy canes, and like I said, today we’ve even got gifts for the parents too,” said Centerville Chamber of Commerce Director Natalie Close.

A fun event for the whole family.

“It’s fantastic. It’s just fun, especially with the kids, it kinda makes me feel like a kid again. I get to enjoy it through their eyes,” said Derek Carter.

For Megan Hines, visiting Santa is family tradition.

“We usually come see Santa here in Centerville. I did when I was a kid and so I bring my kids up here, and it’s always a good experience,” said Hines.

As for the kids, they just want to make sure Santa gets them their most wanted gifts.

“I want a drone,” said Aiden Carter, age 7.

“A drone… because it’ll be fun to play with, I don’t know,” said Maggie Edwards, age 7.

“Superhero toys,” said Evan Carter, age 4.

Saturday afternoon, Santa wasn’t the only getting everyone in the Christmas spirit. A local Girl Scout’s group walked around the square, caroling and handing out handmade Christmas cards.
