CERT courses expected to begin soon
The Macon County Health Department is teaming up with the Community Volunteer Corps to offer Community Emergency Response Team courses.
The upcoming courses will be held at the Macon County R-4 school in New Cambria, Mo.
For certification, participants must take 20 hours of class and a final exam.
CERT provides rural areas with extra assistance in the case of a disaster.
â??One of the things I want to do is to get CERT teams in the schools. Our kids, most of the time, are in the schools during the day. I want to have CERT teams within the schools so they can respond to problems within the schools until a professional service can get there,â?? said Cindy Malloy of the Macon County Health Department.
The first course will be offered Monday, April 21, from 4-8 p.m.
To register for the class, contact the Macon County Health Department at (660)-395-4711.
