Change of venue for man charged with sex-related felonies

Kenneth Shumate, 32, of Unionville, Mo., is facing 20 felony counts.

A northeast Missouri man charged with multiple sex-related felonies has been given a change of venue in his case.

Kenneth Shumate, 32, of Unionville, Mo., is facing 20 felony counts. He remains in the Davies-DeKalb Regional Jail under $1 million cash only bond.

During a court appearance yesterday, the case was moved from Putnam County to Gentry County. The case is being handled by a special prosecutor, John Young from Mercer County.

A motion by Shumate's defense attorney to disqualify the special prosecutor was overruled by the judge.

Shumate also waived his arraignment yesterday in a Putnam County courtroom.
