Child drowns at Mount Pleasant Family Aquatic Center

Investigators say Jazmine Roth-Hines, 7, drowned Friday at the Mt. Pleasant Family Aquatic Center.

A child drowned on Friday evening at the Mount Pleasant Family Aquatic Center.

Police say they arrived on the scene at 6 p.m, and lifeguards were already performing CPR on 7-year-old Jazmine Roth-Hines. Officials say Hines was transported by ambulance to the Henry County Health Center, where she was later pronounced dead. Investigators determined that she was dropped off at the pool with four friends at approximately 3:30 p.m. by her father, Michael Hines, of Mount Pleasant.

A press release from Mount Pleasant Chief of Police Ron Archer says the drowning appeared to be accidental with no foul play suspected. Employees at the aquatic center and police declined to comment on camera Saturday afternoon, but they say the incident is still under investigation.
