A new chief has been hired to head up the Kirksville Fire Department.
The City of Kirksville announced Wednesday that Tom Collins, of Independence, Mo., will serve as the new Fire Chief.
Collins has 30 years experience in various Fire Service positions with the Independence Fire Department including Firefighter, Fire Equipment Operator, Captain, Battalion Chief and the last four years as the Assistant Fire Chief responsible for running one of three shifts of 50 personnel.
Collins also served as Fire Instructor at Blue River Community College, McKenzie Environmental, and University of Missouri Fire and Rescue Training Institute.
